multiply

Purpose
To multiply points, curves, or surfaces.

Usage
Click the multiply button to activate it, then activate the part to be multiplied. Now you can use any transform function to position the currently active copy of the selected part.
Clicking multiply again will fix the position of the copy. The following prompt will appear:
multiply factor ?

In response to the prompt enter the number of copies required (including original). When entering a value of 2 or more, the next prompt will appear:
multiply in (y/n)?

In response to the prompt enter y(es) if you want the new copies to fall between the original and the copy on the screen, or enter n(o) if you want the new copies to be extrapolated along the path from the original to the copy on the screen. If the selected part is a curve, the following prompt will appear on the screen:
connect ?

In response to the prompt enter y(es) if you want the multiplied curves to be connected, or enter n(o) if you do not want this.
If you enter y(es), the following prompt will appear:
connect (be) (be) (a) ?

In response to the prompt enter one of the codes listed below on how to connect the curves, or press <enter> for the default connection code 'eb'. The following characters can be used:

b for beginning of curve
e for end of curve
a for alternate
Some examples of using the connection codes:
be
The beginning of the first curve will be connected to the end of the second curve, and so on.

bba
The beginning of the first curve will be connected to the beginning of the second curve. The end of the second curve will be connected to the end of the third curve, and so on.
Comments
To escape from the multiply operation with no copies, enter 1 for the multiply factor.
A makecurve consisting of one point can be multiplied to make a curve.
