squash

Purpose
To transform curves, grids, surfaces, or the local axis by changing its shape along specific axes while keeping the original volume constant. This is also called volume scaling.

Usage
Click the squash button to activate it, then activate the part to be squashed. By holding the middle mouse button down while moving the mouse, the currently active part will change size along the three axes independently from each other while keeping the volume constant, until you press the left mouse button. If the keyboard toggle button is active, you can enter numerical values.

Comments
When you enter numerical values, the result will be an average in order to keep the volume constant. All transformations are relative to the current position. The transformation actions with the mouse are relative to the current window. By changing the view in the window, transformations in all directions are possible. If you want to size along only one direction in the window, use the squash button in conjunction with the xy toggle button.
Use local axis when you do not want to squash from the origin at x=0, y=0, z=0.
